Chances are you’ve been hearing the buzz about Barre workouts. Many are becoming Barre believers due to the effective but small isometric movements that comprise the workouts. Although they’ve recently gained renewed popularity, they’ve actually been around since the 1950’s, when the first studio was opened by former dancer Lotte Burke. The moves are ballet inspired, and are sure to tone and challenge your muscles. Classes will involve your own body-weight for resistance, a band and a small rubber ball. The barre in the studio is used for balance as you perform the exercises.
Trying out a new fitness genre for the first time can be intimidating, but don’t let that keep you from trying! Arm yourself with a bit of background information, and then step out of your comfort zone to explore something new.
I’ve found that adding some variety to my fitness routine is a great way to keep things interesting, and keep my muscles guessing. When your body adapts to a regular fitness routine, those workouts can cease to be as effective as they were when you first started.
